Rediscovered in 1987 by R. Sutherland, R. Bittman, and K. Berg near Miranda. Threatened by grazing, competition, logging, and road maintenance. Potentially threatened by habitat alteration and non-native plants. See Madroņo 14(1):37-40 (1957) for original description, Fremontia 16(1):13-14 (1988) for discussion of rediscovery and 20(4):21-22 (1992) for management update, and Madroņo 46(4):215 (1999) for occurrence information.
