Rediscovered in CA in 1996 by D. Isle and D. Efseaff; now known in CA from six extant occurrences. Previously known in CA from only a single collection near Howard Lake in 1928; where possibly extirpated by cattle grazing and trampling. Threatened by hydrological alteration, grazing, and trampling. Endangered in ID and OR, and state-listed as Threatened in WA. Inadvertently omitted from The Jepson Manual. See Proceedings of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 15:43 (1879) for original description, Wasmann Journal of Biology 33:90-91 (1975) for the CA record, Conservation Biology 2(3):275-282 (1988) for ecological information, and Fremontia 25:3 (1997) for account of rediscovery.
