Introduction:
- This facility is a thumbnail-illustrated web index for the plants of California
found outside of cultivation. At present, its purpose is to integrate
access to resources at eight sites. We use a combination of the CalFlora and
CNPS Inventory lists to generate links to content at
CalFlora,
CalPhotos,
Jepson Online,
USDA PLANTS,
CA Native Plant Link Exchange,
CA Dept. of Food and Agriculture noxious weeds,
Google,
and
CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants.
Given sufficient interest, this functionality can be expanded.
- About name mismatches: Our ability to link to content at other
sites is entirely dependent on the use of standardized names.
Occasionally, a name we use will not match another site's name for the same plant.
Mismatches due to spelling errors are the easiest to correct. The
lingering use of old names is more problematic, and we are considering various
solutions. For now, when an off-site server returns "taxon not found,"
we suggest that you note the exact
spelling, and perhaps modify the search string in your browser. Also
try our other search links. As you explore, you may find the information
